Shield and cephalic appendages. - Ocular scale with several terminal spines (3–4 spines).

Chelipeds (P1). - Upper margin of right chela tuberculated or spinous. Outer face of left palm regularly convex.

Ambulatory legs (P2-P3). - Dactyl of P3 subequal to propodus or slightly shorter. Distal pilosity of P3 weak, similar to distal P2.

Armament of telson. - Left lobe of telson with several spines disposed on posterior and lateral margins. Right lobe with several spines.

Coloration. - Shield white or cream (with a black median patch on distal half). Ocular peduncle multicolored without narrow ring close to cornea. Detailed coloration of ocular peduncle: proximally pink, grading to pale pink or white distally. Distal antennular peduncle blue or dark blue (other segments and flagella, yellow). Distal antennal peduncle yellow-orange (basal segments cream; flagellum orange). Chela with submedian patch or spot on outer face (background grey-olive to grey-brown, fading to cream distally; submedian spot of variable size; carpus of cheliped grey-brown). Ambulatory legs (P2 & P3) with ring(s) and longitudinal bands (black rings and many longitudinal short brown lines; background color cream; meri of P2 red-carmine).

Habitat. - Shallow-waters (subtidal to almost 30 m).

Geographic distribution. - Western Indian Ocean (this study), Seychelles; Eastern Indian Ocean, Cocos Keeling Islands; Vietnam; Taiwan; Indonesia; western Pacific, Palau, Japan, Loyalty Is. Indo-West Pacific.

Remarks. - One of the three species that have a black submedian spot on outer face of chela (see also C. lineaproprodus and C. gouti).
